UQBS Network Research Group
The UQBS Network Research Group is built around the research program of Tim Kastelle and John Steen. We are all taking different approaches to look at issues relating to network structures within firms and their impact on performance measures.

Tim KastelleTim is a Lecturer in Innovation Management. His research interests are described pretty completely on the My Research page. Along with John Steen and Mark Dodgson, Tim has a Discovery Grant from the Australian Research Council to fund research on the impact of network structure on the innovation performance of project-based firms. They are currently working on this project in partnership with Rio Tinto Coal Australia, Hatch Engineering and Groundprobe. Tim also studies the relationship between network structure and innovation performance within regions, sectors & countries. |

John SteenJohn is a Senior Lecturer in Strategic Management. This is his full research profile. His network-related research derives from his interest in the strategic management of intangible resources. John also has expertise in Actor Network Theory (to the extent to which this is actually possible). |

Mark DodgsonMark is Director of the Technology & Innovation Management Centre at the University of Queensland Business School. The focus of Mark's work over the past 25 years has been studying corporate strategies and government policies for technology and innovation. He is working with Tim & John on the ARC grant investigating innovation networks within project-based firms. There is more about Mark in his new wikipedia listing. |

Neil KayNeil is one of key international collaborators. He is Emeritus Professor in the Economics Department, University of Strathclyde, Scotland; Special Professor, Management School, University of Nottingham, England; and was Visiting Professor, Economics Department, University of Queensland, Australia. His research interests address issues relating to the determinants of the boundaries of the firm, such as multinational enterprise, innovation, diversification, vertical integration, mergers, joint ventures, and other forms of co-operative behaviour. Neil's book Pattern in Corporate Evolution uses a network lens to think about these ideas. There is more information about Neil on his website. |

Sam MacAulaySam is a PhD student, supervised by John and Tim. His thesis is 'How Do People Find Knowledge in Complex Organisations? An Empirical Study of Problemistic Search and the Division of Labour'. Sam draws on insights from the study of social networks and the Carnegie School research program to answer this question. |
