Tim

I am a Lecturer in Innovation Management for The University of Queensland Business School. You can see my academic profile here.

Research

The broad issue that I am interested in is this:  what is the impact of innovation on economic growth?  I approach this from the perspective of evolutionary economics, which views the economy as an evolving complex system.  Analytically, this leads to viewing the economy as a network, and using various forms of network analysis.  My current research program is built around the application of complex network analysis to the study of innovation at the levels of the firm, region, sector and nation.

This research program is also being extended through the work of the six RHD students that I am supervising.  All of them are doing complex network research addressing various issues that are closely related to these research projects.  Together with John Steen, we form the UQBS Network Research Group.

You can see details of my publications, including downloads where possible, on my page on academia.edu.

I am an Editor of the journal Innovation: Management, Policy & Practice.  If you're interested in publishing an article there, please let me know!

Blog

This site hosts the Innovation Leadership Network Blog, which I write with John Steen.  The blog aims to help people that are managing innovation by providing insights from our research and reflections on what we learn through working with organisations.  The blog also includes links to talks and to information about working with us on a consulting basis.
